125 Years of Community Commitment

Celebrating 125 Years of Empowering Youth at the Boys and Girls Club

As we proudly celebrate our 125th anniversary, we reflect on our journey and the profound impact we have made in the lives of countless young people. Founded in 1900, the Boys and Girls Club was established to provide safe and constructive environments for children, particularly in urban areas where such spaces were desperately needed.

A Proud History
Initially launched as the "Boys Club," our mission was to offer boys a positive alternative to the streets. Over the years, we have evolved to embrace inclusivity, welcoming girls and affirming our commitment to empower all youth in our community. Visionary leaders like Zenas Crane, the papermaker and philanthropist whose commitment and generosity founded the Club, have played a vital role in shaping our mission and building a strong, supportive community for children of all backgrounds.

As we adapted to the changing needs of society, our programs expanded significantly. By the mid-20th century, we became a cornerstone for youth development, emphasizing education, character building, and healthy lifestyles.

A Promising Future
Today, we are proud to serve thousands of children across various locations, offering programs focused on academic success, healthy living, and character development. Our recent 125th-anniversary has highlighted the ongoing impact of our work and the dedication of our staff and volunteers.

Through engaging events and activities, we commemorate this significant milestone while looking toward a bright future. Our fundraising initiatives play a vital role in allowing us to expand our programs and maintain our facilities, ensuring we can continue to meet the needs of our youth.

As we move forward, the Boys and Girls Club remains a vital resource for young people, equipping them with the tools and support they need to succeed in life. Together, we are excited to continue our legacy of empowering youth for many more years to come!
