Camp Russell

The Camp Experience

Camp Russell is located on over 200 acres on Richmond Shores.  It is the summer home of the Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires.  Day Camp operates from June through August yearly.

The overall camp consists of the following:  dining hall, infirmary, recreation hall, 2 directors cabins, girls cabin, 2 brick structure cabins, boathouse, wilson storage cabin, pool house, pavilion, handicap access in ground wading pool.

Camp grounds offer:  playground area, a 9 hole miniature golf course, soccer and ball fields, and an outdoor basketball courts.  A full waterfront area for swimming and boating.  On any given week 150 – 250 campers attend camp daily.

 
The most influential and genuine learning experiences often occur outside traditional classrooms. These learning experiences generate enthusiasm among young people and leave lasting impressions on their development.
 
Numerous activities include a comprehensive waterfront i.e. (sailing, water trampoline, water skiing, tubing, kayaking), competitive and non-competitive games, in ground swimming pool, arts and crafts, miniature golf, animal care, STEM workshops led by Berkshires Museum, fishing, gardening, hiking, Brain Gain, various special events and field trips.
 
Summer vacations are an ideal time for members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires to engage in physical & learning opportunities. The Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires summer camp activities reinforce important skills that are often not focused on when school is not in session. 

Camp Programs

 
We have options for every child!
 
  1. Day Camp  - Children grades 1 thru 8 (Must have completed Kindergarten)
      Children are allowed to explore the many different activities that we have by creating their own schedule while at         Camp. Activities are organized by age. 
  2. Sports Camp - Children grades 1 thru 8 (Must have completed Kindergarten)
      Children will explore the many different sports related activities that we have while creating their own schedule at                       Camp. Activities are organized by age.
  3. Leader In Training (L.I.T.) - Children grades 9 & 10
      The L.I.T. program helps teens transition from campers to Leaders. L.I.T's will be assigned in groups to work with                       counselors and help in any way needed, while also having the Camp Russell Experience.  

Each camp has the option of Before & After Care or our After School program, for only $10 a day your child can be dropped off at the club as early as 7:30 with picked up no later than 5:30.

Leader In Training (LIT) Program helps teens transition from campers to counselors. LIT's will be assigned in groups to work with counselors and help in anyway needed, while also having the Camp Russell experience. This program is for 9th & 10th graders.

 AFTER SCHOOL  - Additional $50 per week


















 BEFORE & AFTER CARE - Additional $50 per week                                               
 This program is for the 52 week After School children and New England Voucher recipients. This is an Early Childhood & Care qualified program. Children can be dropped off as early as 7:30 to our school age room where they will have the option to have free breakfast, at 8:15 they will load the bus and head off to camp. Snack is provided after camp. Pick up is no later than 5:30.


















 This program is for children NOT in the After School program. Children can be dropped as early as 7:30 in our Lighthouse Cafe where they will have the option to have free breakfast. At 8:15 they will load the bus and head off to camp. After camp children will play in the big gym until 5:30.
 Additional forms are required for this program and are available on your parent dashboard once you have registered.
